DPRG folks - there seems to be some interest in ToF sensors for obstacle
detection. I happened across a new sensor today, the AMS 882X family:
https://ams.com/en/tmf8821#tab/description
and Sparkfun has a carrier board for two of their sensors:
https://www.sparkfun.com/news/4532
They are about $20 for the Sparkfun board, have a range of 5m, and
relatively wide FOV (40-60 degrees diagonal). They are multi-zone (3x3, 4x4
and 3x6), and multi-target (multiple ranges reported within a zone
correspond to different detected target ranges). They are spec'd for
operation in sunlight. They have a clever scheme for an adjustable FOV:
they have many more SPADs than zones, and they map zones onto different
sets of SPADs to adjust the FOV wider or narrower within relatively small
limits. I2C interface.

All in all, a pretty interesting-looking sensor.
