[Dprglist] Creating a line following course with tape on wood floor - safe for the floor?

I've had good luck with gaffer's tape. It's designed to release without
leaving residue - the adhesive is designed to stick harder to itself and
the tape base than anything else and it doesn't degrade quickly.
Technically is designed for temporary installations, but we've had good
results with installing on wooden and tile floors indoors and removing it a
month later without ill-effect. The tape itself is fabric based. I haven't
tested it at duration in a location with extreme sun exposure - so not sure
if UV temperature variation would degrade its ability to pull up cleanly.
