John,
Q: Must the robot be self-contained?
A: The rules for Six Can say the robot isn’t required to be self-contained. The definition of self-contained is in the rules to explain what it means to be self-contained.

Q: While the robot is sitting at the starting position befor its run starts, can the robot be scanning and mapping the arena?
A: The rules state “A run starts when the robot is placed in the starting area of the arena and given a signal from the judge.”. A robot sitting in the starting position can be electrically active before the judge’s signal.

Q: Is there a height limit?
A: Currently there is no height limit. However, the rules say “If the behavior of a robot is determined to be unsafe, the judge will withdraw the robot from the competition. “ A robot with an unstable aspect ratio could be determined to be unsafe. The start zones were defined to allow for tall robots.

Doug P.

Subject: [Dprglist] Six Can questions

Six Can rule questions:

Is the robot self-contained? The second paragraph of the rules says No, but the inclusion of the Self-Contained Definition in the third paragraph makes me wonder.

While the robot is sitting at the starting position before its run starts, can the robot be scanning and mapping the arena? I think not, but I wanted to ask.

Is there a height limit?

Thanks.
