Friday sale (good thru Monday 11/28) price for an easy to use carrier board is 

$7.95.</DIV>

<DIV>The sensor uses an internal laser (pin diode) and time of flight to measure 

distances up to 2 meters. This looks like a very reasonable replacement for 

Sharp IR range sensors. It uses I2C vs Sharp’s unusually shaped analog signal.
