Webex, Zoom and Teams all do remarkable jobs of echocancellation, but only when both mic and speaker are on the same login. Don't have to be on same adapter, but must be same connection. None of them can handle echocancellation from multiple logins in the same sonic space. I assume Google is the same.
Most of them do auto leveling, so quiet (unmuted) speakers don't help.

Rud,
Another option is just to keep your speakers turned down soft. That will reduce the feedback.

You did have a lot of echo going on when your microphone was active. When using different devices for mic and open speakers, you gotta get your noise cancellation just right - and that varies a lot from one environment/system to another. You can't rely on Google Meet to handle that.
The most assured way to eliminate feedback is to use a headset for your speaker output.

Hi all,
Testing my setup for the video group tonight. When I do the preview testing my speakers / headphones repeat what I am saying. Is this normal? It is confusing since the audio output is slightly delayed from what I am saying. Does this occur during an actual meeting?
There was some kind of noise from my system last week so trying with a microphone and speakers / headphones on the computer audio. Was using the mike on my camera last week.
I'm on Ubuntu Linux.
I do have a presentation on Behavior trees ready to go.
