      DPRG is holding its annual planning meeting this Saturday (Jan 12th) at the Dallas Maker Space starting at Noon. This is the meeting you do not want to miss. It is where the club discusses it plans for the next year. It is where you can make your ideas and concerns heard. It is also where the club's officers are elected. Make sure you vote!       Here is the meeting's agenda:


DPRG Annual Planning Meeting Agenda

  *   Ray Casler, the current president, will sum up the club’s 2018 activities and discuss the state of the club.
  *    The candidates for 2019 officer positions will be introduced.
  *    The 2019 election will be closed after all attendees have had a chance to vote.
  *    Ron Grant, the election overseer, will combine the votes received prior to the meeting by email and the votes made at the meeting, and announce the election results.
  *   The new president will take office.
  *   The new president will lead the annual planning meeting.
  *   The club’s 2019 annual planning meeting will start:
     *   Determine community events that the club will hold exhibits.
Event suggestions:
           *   Tanners electronics/ DPRG Saturday open house (Apr)
           *   iMake event at the museum of Science in Fort Worth (Apr)
           *   Austin Maker fair (May 4th)
           *   Roborama (May 11th)
           *   Moon day at Frontiers of Flight museum (July 20th)
           *   Fall Competition (Nov 9th)
           *   RoboColumbusPlus (Nov 16th)
     *   Formation of Roborama committee.
     *   Formation of Donkey Cart committee.
     *   Determine topics that members want to have presented at the monthly meeting and ask for volunteers to cover topics.

           *   AI (CNN and ML)
           *   OpenCV
           *   Demonstrating blob detection
           *   Laser line/distance/object detection
           *   Challenge course line following strategy
           *   Using distance maps from the Xbox 360 Kinect
           *   LiDAR - example of use
           *   Beginner Robot Series with added Arduino training session
           *   Iron Reign android phone/java robot control details
           *   Will Kuhnle talk about Line Following, with Ron Grant simulation of some of the ideas presented
           *   Talk on BLE (Bluetooth low energy) as communication / telemetry option (Brent WilkeGrimm)
           *   Workshop-style sessions - getting started w/ Node-Red and MQTT
           *   Collaboration with DFW Hackster.io Donkey Cart sessions
           *   New contest proposal – a DPRG take of NASA's Sample Return Robot Challenge
           *   Using Movidius
     *   Listen to suggestions and ideas on how to make the club better.
  *   Member show and tell of projects.
