 I have already been dealing with neural networks at home and at work. I picked up a google AIY vision at Maker faire SF. Target also has them online Google Vision Kit AIY for $89
It comes with a number of pre-baked models or you can roll your own tensorflow model and run it on the onboard movidius chip on the pi zero bonnet. No internet connection required.
