[Dprglist] DPRG Elections - IMPORTANT READ TO END

Once again it is time to hold elections for DPRG club officers. The
election will occur at the DPRG monthly meeting on January 13th, 2018. It
is *very important* that members vote.  The by-laws require that a specific
percentage of members vote to make the election official.



The present officers have proposed the slate of candidates listed below for
the 2018 election. The slate is composed of members who have indicated
interest at recent club events. Any member can come forward and be added to
the list of people considered for the various officer’s positions. If you
want to explore holding office, an overview of officer duties can be found
at officer duties <https://www.dprg.org/officer-duties/>. You can also get
additional information by talking to an existing officer at any monthly
meeting or RBNO. If you want to throw your hat into the ring, please let me
know quickly at secretary at dprg.org so you can be added to the ballot.

*How to Vote*



All members in good standing can vote. The list of members is at member list
<https://www.dprg.org/dprg-members/> . If you are not on the list and you
think you should be, the problem is most likely that you need to renew your
membership. Contact secretary at dprg.org if you need help renewing your
membership.



Members can vote by emailing their vote to election at dprg.org before the
January 13th meeting. The email should be a forwarded copy of this email
with the text "I vote for the proposed officer slate", or "I vote for the
following people for office", or similar text that allows our volunteer
election vote counter, Ron Grant, to determine your intentions.



Members can also vote in person or proxy at the January 13th DPRG meeting.
If voting by proxy, you should signal your intention to vote by proxy by
sending an email to the person that you are giving control of your vote and
the election at dprg.org. The person holding the proxy must then vote.



*Tee-Shirt Giveaway*



This year as an encouragement to vote and to provide members a chance to
obtain a club tee-shirt, a free club tee-shirt will be given to all members
who vote. This is a onetime event and will not be repeated in the future.
The reason for the giveaway is to correct the problem that club tee-shirts
have not been available to members in over 3 years.



The shirts that will be given away will be similar to the 2008 Ron Grant
design seen at https://www.dprg.org/tee-shirts-of-the-past-and-present/.
Members can select either a pocketed or non-pocketed version of the shirt.



Members who cannot attend regular club meetings (i.e., live outside of
Dallas area, have health issues, special cases) will have the shirt mailed
to them at no cost by DPRG.



The conditions for participation in the tee-shirt distribution are:

1. Must be a member in good standing of DPRG on January 13th, 2018.

2. Must vote in the 2018 DPRG officer election.

3. Must provide DPRG with a tee-shirt size and indication of whether a
pocket or a no pocket version of the shirt is desired.

4. Must provide a mailing address if qualified to have the shirt mailed.


After the election, the tee-shirts will be ordered and made available at
the February monthly meeting (or mailed).
